Environment

We always endeavour to reduce the environmental impact of our work by carefully choosing the products and tools we use every day.

As far as possible we now use professional grade battery powered chainsaws, hedge trimmers and strimmers. These tools are generally lighter for the user and have reduced noise and vibration levels. Noise reduction is particularly important, both for the operators and for our customers and their neighbours, making the experience of carrying out work more pleasant for everyone.

For larger tree work involving the felling and processing of large timber, there is no avoiding 2-stroke chainsaws - battery tools simply are not yet powerful enough to compete with them. However, for many years, we have run all our remaining 2-stroke machines on Aspen Alkylate fuel (https://aspenfuel.co.uk), a cleaner petrol alternative free of many of the elements harmful to breathing such as benzene and sulphur, with less toxic emissions and a longer lifespan. Aspen is also free of ethanol which is corrosive to 2-stroke engines, increasing the lifespan of our tools.

We also invest in tools that are built to last and can withstand the rigours of everyday professional use. Our vehicles and plant necessarily use diesel fuel but they are well maintained and durable.
