Genuine expertise you can trust -
In an industry where anyone can call themselves a tree surgeon, Arborglyph Tree Services stands apart. Established in 2014, we've built our reputation on a simple principle: if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing properly.
With over 12 years of practical experience backed by professional arboricultural qualifications, we're not just another contractor with a chainsaw. We're trained arborists who understand trees – their biology, their needs, and how to work with them safely and sympathetically.
Why experience and qualifications matter -
Every week across the UK, valuable trees are damaged beyond repair by inexperienced operators offering cut-price services. These rough traders may promise savings, but the true cost becomes clear when trees are left mutilated, properties are put at risk, and insurance becomes invalid.
Tree work requires technical competence, proper training, the right equipment, and genuine respect for living, growing organisms. That's why we've invested in the qualifications and accreditations that prove our commitment to professional standards.
What sets Arborglyph apart
As a reputable and established company serving Lincoln and surrounding villages, Arborglyph Tree Services provides clients with:

VALID assessor status and Lantra/NPTC qualifications – demonstrating ongoing professional development
Licensed waste carrier – fully compliant with environmental regulations for the disposal and recycling of tree waste
Transparent, detailed quotations – fixed prices with clear specifications, no hidden costs or surprises
Our approach: Advice you can trust
We regularly encounter tree work that has no arboricultural justification whatsoever. Our policy is straightforward: we listen to your concerns first, then offer practical, necessary solutions tailored to your specific situation.
Sometimes that means recommending extensive work. Other times it means explaining that minimal intervention is all that's needed. We will often tell you that no work is required at all. Our reputation is built on fair, honest advice – not unnecessary work that damages your trees and wastes your money.
Proven track record -
Our client list speaks for itself. From domestic homeowners to parish councils, from commercial developments to heritage properties, we've earned the trust of:
- Multiple parish councils across Lincolnshire
- Commercial clients including Witham Oil, Chiselwood Kitchens, and Railway Paths Ltd
- Prestigious venues including The Vedanta Branston Hall and International Bomber Command Centre
- Professional Relationships with Fossdyke Developments and Stem Architects
- Community facilities like The Coronation Hall, Woodhall Spa
Quality, reliability, professionalism -
Our customers consistently describe us as professional, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and reliable. They appreciate our clear communication, competitive pricing, and the fact that we leave every site clean and tidy.
Most importantly, they come back to us time and again – and recommend us to others.
Because when it comes to your trees and your property, you deserve someone who knows what they're doing. Someone qualified. Someone insured. Someone who gives you honest advice, not just the easiest sale.

Arborglyph Tree Services was set up in June 2014 by James Newboult. Based in Branston, Lincolnshire, Arborglyph covers Lincoln and the surrounding areas undertaking all aspects of tree surgery. We also carry out BS3998 tree surveys, ground-based and aerial tree inspections as well as BS5837 surveys for planning applications.
After graduating from Cardiff University with a degree in Archaeology, James worked for 12 years in the heritage industry where he became a project manager and consultant working across the UK. However, his life-long passion for the great outdoors led him to retrain as an arborist and ultimately start his own business. James is a qualified Arborist and holds a Level 4 Diploma in Arboriculture.
James' consultative approach
What truly distinguishes James is that he's not interested in selling you work you don't need. His approach is straightforward:
Listen first – understand your concerns and what you're trying to achieve
Assess honestly – determine what your trees actually require
Advise transparently – even if that means recommending minimal work or no intervention at all
Deliver precisely – tailored specifications that meet your specific situation
This consultative philosophy has earned him long-standing relationships with clients who return year after year, trusting him to manage their trees responsibly.
From domestic gardens to commercial contracts
James's experience spans the full spectrum of arboricultural work. He's equally at home advising a homeowner on an overgrown willow as he is conducting BS 5837 surveys for major developments or managing complex TPO applications.
More than just a tree surgeon
When you work with James, you're consulting with someone who genuinely understands trees – their biology, their value, and how to work with them sympathetically. He takes pride in his craft and treats every tree as the valuable asset it is.
Whether you need expert advice on a protected tree, a comprehensive survey for a planning application, or simply want an overgrown hedge brought back under control, James brings the same professionalism and expertise to every job.
